Australia’s gas reserve debate has resurfaced as east coast prices remain elevated despite the country’s position as one of the world’s top LNG exporters.
Australia faces gas supply shortfalls despite gas playing a critical role in the country’s energy transition, a new report says.
The Japan-Australia hydrogen project aims to produce 30 million tonnes of hydrogen from brown coal gasification in Victoria to be liquefied and exported to Japan.
The government said the new Australian gas strategy was needed to help fuel domestic energy supply on its way to a target of 82 percent renewable energy by 2030, and eventually reaching net zero emissions by 2050.
